Questions

For Personal Reflection or Group Discussion

God is not interested in how ‘religious’ we are. He is far more concerned about integrity, justice and righteousness. Without that religiosity is sheer hypocrisy.

  1. How does Amos 5 challenge your understanding of what it means to lead a life pleasing to God?
  1. Amos 5: 14 – 15
14 “Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. 15 Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. How can we apply the call for justice and righteousness in our everyday interactions with others?
  1. Amos 5: 24
“But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!”
How can we as individuals and as a church be God’s agents for justice and righteousness in our communities?

Prayer

Lord, thank you that faith in Christ alone justifies and restores our relationship with you. Help us to continually renew our relationship with you by seeking you.

We know that faith should go beyond personal piety. Help me to live out my faith by acting righteously and seeking justice for all. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
