The Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) is part of The Methodist Church in Singapore, with local chapters at many churches. KKMC’s WSCS chapter held its 83rd Annual General Meeting recently.
The WSCS Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Saturday, 19 September 2020. Due to Covid-19, the meeting was held on Zoom for the first time.
New themes were chosen for the coming quadrennium.

The speaker, Dr Koh Siang Kiang, was a KKMC member in the 1970s and 1980s, when she was commissioned to Bedok Methodist Church as a church worker. In 1987 she transferred her membership to Grace Baptist Church, where she is still. In 1996 she began serving in theological education. She is an Associate Professor (Practical Theology) and a Field Education Coordinator at Singapore Bible College.
Her short, uplifting sharing reminded the WSCS ladies that God’s Order: The Divine Order in God’s Family, is based on Jesus’ greatest commandment, taken from the Old Testament – Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (Matthew 22:37, Deuteronomy 6:5).
Dr Koh’s main points were:
- Hear God’s Word and obey with our thinking and behaviour.
- Commit to love God with our whole being. Our emotions, moral character and determination should exemplify our love to God to our family and friends, and our trust in God when things get tough. Since our body is God’s temple, we should feed it information that fills us with godliness.
- Only when we do both of the above can we be effective in teaching God’s Word to the next generations.
As this is an election year, nominations and voting were conducted on Zoom. A new Executive Committee, which will serve for the next two years, was formed. (Members of the Executive Committee are listed in the document below.) Rev Kenneth Huang conducted the installation service for the new committee on Zoom.
