At the fun fact quiz during a Project Five Loaves & Two Fishes (P5L2F) event, residents of Little India were astonished that KKMC had just celebrated its 130th Anniversary this year. They were grateful to the Church, a long-standing neighbour, for being a blessing to this community. Since P5L2F started three years ago, it has attracted residents from our neighbouring blocks to as far as Kampong Kapor Family Service Centre and Kampong Glam Community Centre.
It is our aim, as commanded in Matthew 5:16, to let our light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven. Christmas celebrates the origin of the light, Jesus Christ, who first came into the world. There are three kinds of responses to this light: 1) Those who refuse to believe; 2) Those who believe but remain hidden for fear of others; and 3) Those who believe and shine for Jesus. The Church is a gathering of people who believe in Jesus. The passage in John 12:46 underscores the importance of the Church shining as a light in the world’s darkness.
Thus, the theme for Christmas at the Kampong 2024 is “The Light.” To bring this message to our neighbours, we will be illuminating our church premises with an eight-metre-tall Christmas tree, fairy lights and lights around the church grounds. We will also be spreading the joy of Christmas through various events and carolling in our neighbourhood. With God’s perfect timing this year, He has given us the opportunity to extend our annual Christmas celebration to City Square Mall. We encourage you to share this Christmas message with your pre-believing relatives, friends, colleagues.
