Aldersgate Celebration is a call to worship God together as a Methodist family. This year we will explore what it means to Love God by Loving Our Neighbour through Scriptural Holiness. Bishop Emeritus Dr Robert Solomon will share with us on The Priesthood of All Believers (Celebration Service) and on Growing Together in Holiness (Lecture).

Aldersgate Lecture | Friday, 23 May 2025, 7.30pm to 9pm at Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist Church (TA2)
Topic: Growing Together in Holiness (in English only)
Speaker: Bishop Emeritus Dr Robert Solomon
Kindly note that it is an in-person service. We welcome all to join us!
Sypnosis: What did John Wesley mean when he wrote, “There is no holiness but social holiness”? His point was that it was in Christian community that individual Christians can best grow in holiness. The lecture will explore the connections between church membership, discipline, and discipleship in the Wesleyan concept of church. It will also examine how Wesleyan small groups (classes, bands, and select societies) are meant to enhance accountability and deepen growth in holiness. We are at our best when we learn to grow together in holiness, and there is a need to find ways of doing this well.
Aldersgate Celebration Service | Saturday, 24 May 2024, 5pm to 7pm at Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist Church (TA2)
Topic: The Priesthood of All Believers (in English with Mandarin translation)
Speaker: Bishop Emeritus Dr Robert Solomon
Kindly note that it is an in-person service. We welcome all to join us!
Sypnosis: The apostle Peter reminded his readers that “like living stones” they were “being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood” (1 Pet 2:5). The Protestant concept of the priesthood of all believers has been variously understood. We shall examine the Bible passage on the priesthood of believers to discover what it means and what it does not mean. How can this teaching strengthen the way the church functions and encourage each church member to ask what role they play in this priesthood in the light of Scripture and Wesleyan teaching and practice.
Dinner provided after service. Please register by 9 May if you are staying for dinner.
